C7 Stingray platform?
Will it work?
Will it sell?
Somebody render this.

It would work very well.
No one would buy one.

Hate to say it, but ... :( RIP XLR
Cadillac's chief marketing officer Uwe Ellinghaus:
"From a brand building point of view, it would be nice to have a convertible, but convertible's are tough. The business case must work. It is not about cutting the roof off a coupe, the investments are significant."

Will it work? Yes.
Will it sell? Nope. Given the C7's brilliance and pricing, any XLR would have to be over 100k, and the reality is that Cadillac doesn't have the brand cachet to hit 100k yet. Plus you have the standard bearer of the GT convertible (SL550) starting in that neighborhood. Why would you get the XLR over the SL550. One is a rebodied chevy, and the other is the definition of a luxury convertible.

America spent so many years building shitty cars, that the eagle has a right to cry.

It probably wouldn't sell.
That being said, I'd love to see Cadillac do a big, comfortable 2+2 convertible.

Would work, wouldn't sell.
They need to focus on making the Elmiraj.

It would make sense for Cadillac to have a roadster again at some point, considering that BMW, Mercedes, and Jaguar all do them, but I don't know that the time is right yet. They still need to finish sorting out their mainstream model line (eg LTS and more ATS variants) and figuring out how to get people buying them.
